Berberis thunbergii - Green Barberry

Berberis thunbergii, variously known as Japanese or Green Barberry with its vandal-proof, vicious spines is a medium sized shrub that makes a very good prickly hedge. Small yellow flowers are produced in spring, red berries in summer, followed by a brilliant autumn colour. Green Berberis thunbergii looks good interplanted with its purple leaved cousin Berberis thunbergii atropurpurea. 

While this plant makes a good specimen shrub, its real value lies in its ability to grow into a pretty but vandal proof hedge. Plant Berberis thunbergii at three plante per metre and a single row and give it a couple of years....   Clip in early summer, after flowering. To 2m
