Vaccinium corybosum "Chandler" - Late Season Bush
These are blueberry plants that could have been designed for amateur growing. Chandler blueberries have almost everything. The taste is outstanding, the berries are large - they can be over 2 grams in weight and the fruiting period is enormous; from the beginning of August through to the end of September. All this in a superfood with high levels of anti-oxidants and anti-cancer agents. And you can get bigger crops earlier by buying the larger blueberry plants which are a year older.
As blueberry plants go, Chandler is upright, growing to about 150 cms - 4ft 6" cms and easy to cultivate. Please remember, however, that all blueberries need moist, free-draining acidic soil to fruit. They are members of the heather family and need the same conditions as any other heather.
