Captivator Gooseberry Bushes - Main Season

Description of Captivator Plants & Fruit:
Captivator is a reliable bush gooseberry with red (almost burgundy coloured) sweet fruit from late July well into August. It is a vigorous, spreading plant with good disease resistance. The plants we supply are strong, 2 year old bushes with 3-5 shoots each. Captivator gooseberries were bred in Canada and so are enormously hardy.

Characteristics of Captivator Bushes:

  • Almost Thornless (a few fairly soft spines on new wood).
  • Self-fertile.
  • Red-pink fruit, sweet.
  • Crops steadily from late July to mid August.
  • Mildew & leaf spot resistant.

Growing Captivator Gooseberry Plants:
Mature bushes will probably need some bamboo canes for support as the weight of fruit pulls down the branches.
Rich soil is essential - dig in good manure and compost before planting. Gooseberries do very well in cold places.

Background Information on Captivator Gooseberry Bushes:
Bred from American and European varieties.
