Planting Hornbeam:
Hornbeam is a very useful tree for poor planting conditions. It thrives on very damp soil, is shade tolerant and hardy enough to grow in frost pockets and cold Northern regions.
Spacing: For a single row hedge, 3 per metre (33cms apart).
The glossy
green leaves turn yellow in autumn then brown in winter, when they are
held until spring if the plant is clipped as a hedge.
