Glen Moy - Early Season Raspberry Bush

Glen Moy raspberries have stood the test of time. New raspberry cultivars appear almost every year but the quality of Glen Moy raspberries is evidenced by the fact that it was introduced in 1986 and is still going strong. It is still, more than 20 years after it was introduced, one of the earliest raspberry plants, typically cropping from the second week of June onwards and is 50% cropped by the first week of July. Good flavour, and firm medium sized fruit account for its popularity as does its resistance to aphids.

Our raspberries are all supplied as bare-rooted canes and fall into one of the following groupings: early - like Glen Moy raspberry canes, mid-season, late and autumn fruiting depending on their cropping season. Raspberry plants produce roughly half of their season's crop in the first few weeks of fruiting. Thereafter raspberries fruit more slowly. To pick from June in October - in a good year you therefore should plant some raspberries from each group.

Glen Moy raspberry plants should be planted with about 60cms between plants and 2.5 metres between rows. They require support on straining wires and the new raspberry canes produced each year should be kept apart from those of the previous year which will fruit and then be cut to the ground.

Please remember to plant raspberries with their roots just under the surface. Deep planting kills them.
