Mae Strawberry Plants - Early Season

Description of Mae Plants & Fruit:
A great compliment to the other popular early season plants, Honeoye or Rosie, Mae strawberry bushes have a larger crop size.
The fruit quality is good, although they are best eaten fresh - you will get better jam from the other varieties.
Note that it is not disease resistant and may not be suitable for organic growing in some areas.

Characteristics of Mae Bushes:

  • Very heavy cropper.
  • Compact plants can be squeezed a bit closer together than other varieties.
  • Good sized, sweet fruit are best eaten fresh.
  • Crops from mid-May if grown under cover, otherwise early June.

Growing Mae Strawberry Plants:
Mae flowers early, so it will need protection if you have a frosty garden.
