Malus Rudolph Crabapple Trees - Large Standards - Delivered by Mail Order from the Nursery with a 1 Year Guarantee

Malus Rudolph crabapple trees have great purple-red young leaves and superb autumn colour. The purple fruit are large (for a crabapple) and good for cooking with. They are quite small, upright trees that will squeeze into most small gardens.
Malus Rudolph can reach a height of about 6 metres.

Standard trees are the largest size that we deliver; you can also buy wild crabapple saplings here.

How Standard Trees are Measured:
All the plants in the ornamental trees section are graded as standards, which means that they are measured by their girth in centimetres 1 metre above ground level (basically, their trunk's waist measurement). They aren't measured by their height, which will vary. So, a 6/8 standard has a trunk with a circumference of 6-8 centimetres and an 8/10 standard has a trunk 8-10 centimetres around. This measurement makes no difference to the tree's final height.
Standard trees are 2 - 3.5 metres tall (on average) when they arrive; they are the most mature trees that you can buy from us. We cannot tell you precisely how tall your trees will be before we deliver them.

General description of Malus Rudolph trees:
If you want to inject some purple, red and pink tones into your garden, Rudolph is sure to satisfy. The leaves, which are borne on red stalks, are purple-red in spring, green with a dark purple blush in summer and a fabulous purple-gold in autumn. The profuse flowers are purple-pink; simply stunning at their peak in late spring. The dark purple fruit are a good size and can be used for for cooking, making jelly or pressing for juice to add to a cider mixture. If you don't pick them, they will stay in the tree well into winter, unless the squirrels and birds snatch them.
Crabapple trees make effective pollinators for orchard apple trees.
