Prunus Petit Noir - Mid Season

Description of Petit Noir Trees & Cherries:
This is one of the best cherry trees for a small garden and because it grows quite slowly, it shouldn't need any pruning. It is self fertile, so you don't need to buy a second cherry tree to pollinate it and when it is mature, it is a heavy cropping tree for its size. The cherries are plump, sweet and very dark.
If you want a longer season of cherries and have room for another small tree, we recommend Celeste, which crops about a month before Petit Noir.

Characteristics of Petit Noir Trees:

  • Self fertile.
  • Crops in Early August.
  • Naturally small tree.

Pollination Partners for Petit Noir Cherries:
Petit Noir will make fruit all by itself and does not need a pollination partner.

Rootstocks:
Our Petit Noir cherry trees are all grown on "Colt" rootstocks.
Maximum height 4 metres.

Growing Petit Noir Cherry Trees:
Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting.
Soil drainage must be good.
The more sun your trees get the better your crops will be.
Cherry trees are targets for birds, so netting them is a good idea.
Only prune cherries in summer.
