Amelanchier canadensis - Snow Mespilus or Juneberry
Amelanchier canadensis provides interest all year round, with masses of white flowers in spring followed by red edible fruit in summer and brilliant orange-red autumn foliage. The text books say it prefers moist soil (what ornamental tree does not) but once stablished our Amelanchier looked fantastic all through one of the driest summers on record growing in what can only be described as dust.
Amelanchier canadensis is also known as Juneberry because of when its fruit ripen, These really are edible (and are delicious) but to have a chance of trying even one, the tree must be netted as birds adore them when they are unripe. Supplied barerooted. To 5m
