Prunus avium - Wild Cherry / Gean Tree

The Wild Cherry - Prunus avium is a fast growing, medium sized native deciduous tree, that bears white flowers in spring and edible - if rather bitter fruits in summer. The dark green leaves - bronze coloured when young turn an attractive red/yellow in the autumn. The red-brown wood of the cherry is used in cabinet making and for musical instruments and pipes. Wild cherry will grow almost anywhere except on wet soils. To 20m
