Birch Trees

Varieties of Birch Trees - Betula Species

Birches are elegant, slender, medium sized trees that will grow on most soils and thrive on acidic ground. They can tolerate chalk, but we don't recommend them for them chalky soils because it tends to stunt their growth, making a less attractive tree. Birch trees need a good amount of sunlight. The trees in our selection will grow to 20-25 metres tall.
Birches in the wild are pioneer trees, which means that they colonise open soil, grow quickly and are relatively short lived. This lifecycle makes them good for planting as companions for other, slower growing trees. The birches will rapidly stabilise loose soil and provide wind shelter. Because they don't cast very dense shade, the other trees will be able to continue growing and eventually take over.
Silver birch and Downy birch are the 2 native types.

Hello, and THANK YOU !! I am very pleased with the hedging plants I received, they are strong well branched plants that have obviously been pruned to aid their development and have great root systems. We will be recommending your plants to friends and clients, (daughter has a landscaping business).
