Philadelphus Virginal

Sometimes known as Mock Orange, Philadelphus Virginal is a strong growing shrub that is covered in fragrant, fully double white blossom in June. It is far and away the best double philadelphus growing in the UK. This is a deciduous shrub that makes a fantastic specimen in a border or sunny corner. For a more dramatic effect, you can use it as a host for a large flowered clematis to contrast with the white orange blossom and to extend the period in which this is interesting in the garden.

Left to its own devices it makes a large bush about 3m tall and nearly the same across. So, if you do not have room for that then it makes an unusual but highly effective informal hedging plant.

If you prefer a single flowered variety, then we sell the scented - unusual for a single Philadelphus - Belle Etoile.

You can buy Philadelphus Virginal online from us as bareroot plants during the winter when we deliver it between November-April. In a hedge, we recommend planting at 50cms intervals.
