are crossing their chosen varieties.<\/p><h3>Can a Pear Tree Pollinate an Apple Tree?<\/h3><p>No, a pear tree can\u2019t pollinate an apple tree. <\/p><p>Although they are closely related plants in the Rose family, <em>Rosaceae <\/em>(which includes most fruit trees grown in the UK), they are different species: orchard apples are <em>Malus domestica<\/em>, and pears are <em>Pyrus communis<\/em>. <\/p><p>Skilled fruit tree grafters can get an apple and a pear to grow \u201con the same tree\u201d using an intermediary rootstock that is compatible with both, but that\u2019s for another
