About Clematis Montana 'Tetrarose':

Clematis Montana 'Tetrarose' produces masses of gorgeous deep rose pink flowers each spring. The blooms are elegant and simple, the largest of the Montana varieties (up to 7cm diameter), with a sweet spicy fragrance.

Bronze-tinged foliage and red stems add interest once the flowers have faded. This is a vigorous climber (final height of up to 10m) that will quickly cover walls and pergolas. It will need a strong supporting structure.

Clematis Montana 'Tetrarose' will perform best with its roots in deep, moist soil. It prefers full sun, but will tolerate shade and a northerly aspect, as well as coastal conditions. Give it plenty of room to ramble up or along - it is a vigorous climber - somewhere that you will be able to enjoy the fabulous spring display and fragrance.

All clematis can be affected by Clematis slime flux, a bacterial infection of damaged tissue that can kill large specimens almost overnight. Can be pruned out if spotted early.

Trivia:

This variety was raised at Boskoop Research Station, Holland, in 1960. It was produced using the chemical colchicine, which induces mutations in plants that can lead to new cultivars.
