Description

Prunus avium Vega Cherry Trees

Vega is a really big, sweet cherry with a succulent, pale centre and red and gold skin.
Possibly due to its large size, birds don't seem to as interested in this variety as they are in most other cherries, but we still advise you to cover your trees with a net when the fruit are ripening.

Browse our range of cherry trees or the full variety of fruit trees.

Features:

  • Self Sterile
  • Pollination Group D
  • Crops in late July

Pollination Partners for Vega Cherries:
Your trees must be pollinated to make fruit.
Stella and Lapins Cherokee are both good pollination partners.

Our Vega cherry trees are all grown on "Colt" rootstocks.

Growing Vega:

Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting.
Soil drainage must be good.
The more sun your trees get the better your crops will be.
Cherry trees are targets for birds, so netting them is a good idea.
