Description

Rosa Glenfiddich Floribunda Rose

Glenfiddich is a charming small rose carrying large clusters of perfect hybrid tea shaped golden amber blooms from early summer until the autumn. The foliage is very attractive, being dark glossy green, and the bush itself is upright and neat. This rose has a gentle mellow fragrance but the gorgeous colour and shape of the flowers makes it well worth growing for these qualities alone.  It will require a little shelter and much prefers an open site in full sun.

Great in your garden

Glenfiddich never grows to more than 2.5ft in height making it absolutely perfect for the front of a border or with a mixed planting of lower growing perennials, particularly with blues and purples.  It would also look stunning interplanted in groups with pretty small grasses such as Pennisetum setaceum - purple fountain grass (which is an annual grass with burgundy red stems) or Briza media -  common quaking grass (a gorgeous pretty grass with purplish tinges).  These grasses would contrast and accent the roses both in colour and shape making quite a bold statement.

Did you know?

In 1887 William Grant his wife, seven sons and two daughters finally made a twenty year dream come true and built a Whisky distillery and called it Glenfiddich which is Gaelic for Valley of the Deer.  It remains one of the few single malt distilleries that are family owned and produces the world's most awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This rose was bred by Cocker, rose breeders in Aberdeen, who give most of their roses good Scottish names.  Glenfiddich was probably chosen as the amber yellow colour of the flowers is very similar to the colour of this special whisky.
