Acer drummondii Maple Trees - Large Standards - Delivered by Mail Order from the Nursery with a 1 Year Guarantee

Acer platanoides drummondii, commonly known as the Harlequin or Drummond Maple, is a variety of Norway maple with variegated leaves. They have the classic maple star shape with a bright green centre and creamy margin. Suitable for a medium sized garden.
Acer drummondii Maple trees can reach a height of about 12 metres.
We grow another ornamental Norway Maple variety called Acer Crimson Sentry.
You can also buy wild Norway Maple saplings and large Norway Maple Trees.

How Standard Trees are Measured:
All the plants in the ornamental trees section are graded as standards, which means that they are measured by their girth in centimetres 1 metre above ground level (basically, their trunk's waist measurement). They aren't measured by their height, which will vary. So, a 6/8 standard has a trunk with a circumference of 6-8 centimetres and an 8/10 standard has a trunk 8-10 centimetres around. This measurement makes no difference to the tree's final height.
Standard trees are 2 - 3.5 metres tall (on average) when they arrive; they are the most mature trees that you can buy from us. We cannot tell you precisely how tall your trees will be before we deliver them.

General description of Acer drummondii Maple trees:
Acer drummondii Maple produces small clusters of pale yellow flowers called corymbs in April, before the branches get covered in leaves.
These develop into winged seeds called samaras.
The leaves look great when the full sun shines through them. The autumn foliage is a clean, shining yellow, sometimes with orange tones, that looks great in a mixed stand with other maple varieties.
The mature bark is steely grey with vertical fissures that reveal rusty flashes of deeper wood.

Acer platanoides Drummondii is about half the size of a wild Norway Maple, a good choice for a medium sized garden.
If you have a smaller garden, you may consider training your tree into a bush. Acer drummondii Maple naturally has quite a short trunk and responds well to being pruned into a more compact form.
