It isn't really a bush and has nothing in common with fruit bushes like raspberries!
They are ideal for a smaller garden, but even if you have quite a lot of space, bushes will give a good crop of several different apple varieties without swamping you with more fruit than you can eat!
Many orchard growers also use Bush fruit trees because they are easy to harvest with a stepladder.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Easy to harvest, inspect & care for. | Reduced crop size: A bush can produce about 25-50% as much fruit as a full sized, "standard" tree. |
| Convenient height for most people's gardens |
Important Note About your first Harvest:
If you want your tree to establish well and get into its main cropping life as soon as possible, we strongly advise being patient and removing the first harvest after planting.
As soon the flowers have finished, go over the tree and snip off all the little green fruitlets (that's the bit that's left when the petal have fallen off).
This is the best thing you can do for your tree & it will reward you by growing strong roots and branches.
