Green Beech - Fagus sylvatica Hedging
We have a huge range of Green Beech hedge plants - Fagus sylvatica - but we really recommend these packs of strong and well-branched beech hedging plants available in economy packs of 50, if you are planning a beech hedge.
Depending on height, these powerful plants are either 3-4 year old seedling beech that are about as close to instant as one can get without spending a fortune. Beech in these sizes prefers to be trench planted and ground preparation should be good. Always water newly planted beech hedges well in their first year as beech is shallow rooted early in its life and dies if its roots dry out. For a similar reason, never mulch with woodchip as it deprives the surface soil of free nitrogen as it rots thereby starving the hedge
Plant at 3 per metre in a single row or 4-5 per metre in a double row. Choose Hornbeam if your ground is not well drained. Please ask if you are not sure. If you want smaller quantities or want to add a few to one or more packs, take a look at our page listing all the sizes of beech hedging plant we sell where you can buy these (singly if need be).
