Bareroot Guarantee Terms
Introduction
We guarantee all our perennial bareroot plants, and perennial deciduous potted plants delivered in winter (i.e. when they have no leaves).
When you receive a potted plant in leaf, you can clearly see whether it is alive or not.
- If you think something is wrong with any plant we deliver, you must Contact Us and arrange to return it within five working days.
But when you receive a bareroot plant, or potted deciduous plant in Winter, there is no clear way to know if it's in top condition.
We store our bareroot plants in a state-of-the-art cold storage shed, but you don't need to take our word for it!
- We want you to have peace of mind, knowing that we will replace bareroot plants that fail in their first year.
- Provided you remain subscribed to our emails so we can send you growing advice, if guaranteed plants die in their first 12 months, you only need to send us good quality photographs of the failures, and a description of the problem so we can advise you on how to avoid it in future.
Disclaimer
If you take care of your plants at your end, we guarantee that they will grow.
This means you should:
- Plant promptly, according to our instructions
- Plant in a suitable location & soil for the species
- Plant at least 0.5m away from fencing
- Apply Rootgrow to the roots of all woody plants
- Stake standard size trees correctly
- Keep new plants watered and weed free for their first year
Subject to the above and the exclusions below, we provide a 12-month replacement guarantee on all naturally long-lived and hardy plants you buy and plant on the UK mainland.
The guarantee does not apply to these groups of plants:
- With a life expectancy of less than 24 months (e.g. annual bedding plants)
- Bulbs or Dahlia tubers
- Potted or root balled evergreen plants
- Instant hedging troughs
Nor to any plants that are:
- Bought at an end-of-season sale
- Delivered as plugs
- Given to or used by third parties
- Bareroot and Potted plants despatched from 1st April – 31st October
- Affected by a hose pipe ban or other water-use restrictions in your area
When You Need to Claim
With any plant that was delivered bareroot, please wait until the first week of July before taking pictures and claiming, as newly planted stock can be slow to come into leaf.
- Take several good-quality pictures of the dead plant from different angles, both close-up and from a little distance away, to include the surroundings.
- Tell us using the Contact Us form and let us have:
- A description of the problem
- The order number
- Images of the plant
After we agree to the claim, we will issue a replacement. The replacement will not be covered by a further guarantee.
Other Terms & Conditions
- We reserve the right to refuse a replacement for any reason, which in practice is lack of care: every year, we get a few requests to replace plants that were never planted!
- Ashridge Gift Certificates and delivery charges are not covered.
- The replacement will incur an additional delivery charge.
