Cotoneaster simonsii - Red Berried Cotoneaster Shrubs

Cotoneaster simonsii is a strong growing, upright shrub that is evergreen in all but the coldest winters. Its small, dense leaves make it ideal for hedging and it responds well to regular clipping if you want to keep it really neat. It has lots of charming, tiny flowers in spring and bright red berries in autumn and early winter.
Bareroot plants are for winter delivery, pot-grown plants are there for you to buy during the rest of the year.
This variety is often planted in a mixed hedge with the Orange berried Cotoneaster franchetii.

Growing a Cotoneaster simonsii Hedge
Your plants are happy in almost any soil with decent drainage. They need at least half a day of full sun. Trim them after the berries fall, generally in late winter. To 2m.
Spacing: 3 Plants per metre.

Cotoneaster simonsii comes from the Himalayas and was brought to Britain in 1865. It has won an RHS award of garden merit.
