Your Guarantee from Ashridge Nurseries
Your 12 Month Guarantee from Ashridge Nurseries
If any of the plants that you buy from our nursery die within a year of delivery, we will replace them unless they were bought in an end of season sale. You only pay for the delivery of the replacements.
We do ask for clear photos of the plants in the soil, both taking in the planting area and close up. These will help us to work out what went wrong so we can give you the right advice for looking after your replacements.
The most important thing to do with establishing plants is to water them in dry weather. Water very thoroughly, but not too frequently: allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out before you water again. In hot summer weather, this should mean that you are watering 1 to 3 times per week, depending on your site's drainage and exposure to wind and sun.
If there is heavy rain, that counts as a watering for your plants. If there is only very light rain during hot weather, this probably won't be of much use to your plants and they will still need watering.
Weeding is also very important; we strongly recommend using a mulch mat (for trees) or mulch fabric (for hedges) if weeding your new plants will be impractical. Otherwise weed by hand or use a hoe - weeds compete for water and food.
Outside your 1 Year Guarantee period?
If your plants die or get sick after their first year, you are still welcome to take some photos and send them in: we will be happy to give you what advice we can. We can't make any promises, but if you want to buy replacements from us, give us a call and we'll see if we can arrange a discount for you.
- Bareroot and Container grown plants - provided these are reported to us AFTER 30th June and BEFORE 31st October after planting. Newly planted stock must be allowed time to establish which can take several months. It is ESSENTIAL that all newly planted trees, shrubs, roses etc are well watered between February and the end of June during any dry periods. We do not entertain claims made before 1st July and plants must be left in situ and be well watered until then. If you still have a problem then, simply reply to this email with photographs as described below and we will resolve the issue.
- provided we receive at least 2 in-focus photographs, one close up and one taken from a distance to show the planting position - please note that we insist on these in all circumstances and cannot progress any claim without them. We also reserve the right to ask for a sample of plant material for analysis.
- and provided our planting instructions have been followed
Under that guarantee we replace dead plants the following season without charge although we look to you to cover the cost of the carriage.
When sending the photographs please also let us have the document reference (sales order or sales invoice number) relating to your purchase.
