Your Guarantees from Ashridge Nurseries

It is our responsibility to provide you with goods that meet your consumer rights. We strive to provide the best quality products, and we are proud of everything we sell. Your plants have been taken care of in the best possible conditions right until they are packed for delivery to you.

Please, please, never plant something you are unhappy about; let us solve the problem there and then - we do not accept returns once a plant has been planted. If you receive an order from us and you are not completely happy with it, do not hesitate to get in touch with us straight away.

We are confident that your plants will thrive in your garden but with the uncertainties of nature, sometimes this may not be the case.

Available Guarantees from Ashridge Nurseries

Thank you for buying your plants from Ashridge Nurseries - to give you peace of mind, there are two available guarantees when you buy your plants from us.  They are:

  • A 1 Year guarantee and 
  • A  free, 5 Year Extended Guarantee

Please read the terms and conditions of each to understand how they apply:

 

1 Year Guarantee

This guarantee applies to any plants you buy from us that can reasonably be expected to live for more than 24 months.  

If you are not happy with your plants when you inspect them after delivery, please do not plant them. Instead, contact us immediately for a replacement. Please note that plants are perishable. As such, you must return them within 7 days of delivery for the guarantee to be valid.

If any perennial plant or tree you buy from us dies within a year of delivery, we will replace it on a like for like basis (i.e.at the original size supplied) free of charge at the start of the next season. For any replacement, you will only pay the fees for the delivery of the products replaced.

Other goods can be returned unopened or unused within 30 days of delivery to your address.

For the guarantee to be valid, we ask that you: 

  • Follow our planting and care instructions which are available on our website (wwww.ashridgetrees.co.uk);
  • Water your plants in dry weather when they are establishing. Water very thoroughly, but not too frequently: allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out before you water again. In hot summer weather, this should mean that you are watering 1 to 3 times per week, depending on your site's drainage and exposure to wind and sun. If there is heavy rain, that counts as a watering for your plants. If there is only very light rain during hot weather, this probably won't be of much use to your plants and they will still need watering.
  • Weeding is also very important. We strongly recommend using a mulch mat (for trees) or mulch fabric (for hedges) if weeding your new plants will be impractical. Otherwise, weed by hand or use a hoe, as weeds compete for water and food. 

We do ask for clear photos of the plants in the soil, both taking in the planting area and close up as well as a picture of the Ashridge plant label. These will help us to work out what went wrong so we can give you further, specific advice for looking after your replacements. If you cannot take photographs, then we ask for the plant(s) and label to be returned to us at your expense.

This guarantee does not apply to the following products:

  • any plants bought at an end of season sale; even if they are reasonably expected to live for more than 24 months;
  • any plants with a life expectancy of less than 24 months; or
  • any plants given to or used by third parties

This guarantee also does not apply if there is a hosepipe ban in your area within 12 months of your purchase, even if your plants can reasonably be expected to live for more than 24 months.

 

Conditional 5-Year Extended Guarantee

For our Conditional 5-year Extended Guarantee (“Extended Guarantee”) to apply, you must subscribe - and remain subscribed to - our regular Newsletter and Tipsheet emails so you get the best advice on growing your plants.

 

The Extended Guarantee applies to plants you buy from us that can reasonably be expected to live for at least 10 years. For the sake of clarity, these plants do not include:

 

  • Tender or half-hardy plants,
  • Bulbs
  • Lavender and other short-lived shrubs
  • Christmas trees
  • Annuals and biennials
  • Short-lived soft fruits

 

If you are unhappy with your plants for any reason after planting them, please return them to us for replacement or full refund. For any replacement, you will only pay the fees for the delivery of the products replaced.

 

The Extended Guarantee will be valid only if you notify us of any issues as soon as they arise. It does not cover plants that have been dead for years.
