Our summer 2013 photo competition is open for entries!

Well, what strange seasonal change this year is throwing at us. In the space of a few days we seem to go from wind and hail to clear blue skies and sunbathing! Still, it keeps things interesting.

One clear sign that we're on our way to summer is how green everything has suddenly become. It took a while to get here, but there's no denying the beauty of British hedging in full swing.

So, this is your inspiration for our summer photo competition:

"A green and pleasant land"

Whether it's an expansive landscape or an extreme close-up, let the colour green guide your lens!

The closing date for entries is midnight on Thursday 29 August 2013. The three winners will be contacted via email by Thursday 5 September.

More than £100 in vouchers is up for grabs!

  • 1st prize: £50 voucher to spend with us
(plus your photo will grace our social media pages throughout autumn)
  • 2nd prize: £35 voucher
  • 3rd prize: £25 voucher

How does it work?

Every season we will give you a theme for your photo. It could be simply seasonal, or colour-related, a close-up, or a landscape. It could include wildlife, or food, or family... and, sometimes, much more abstract!

Each photo will be judged on both its visual impact, and how well it represents our chosen theme.

How to enter

All you need to do is email your photo as an attachment to, with the subject line "Summer photo competition".

Please also include your name and address, and (where possible) the name of the plant you have photographed!

Important! Please don't send any printed photographs to us by post. We cannot accept any responsibility for them, and neither can we return them to you.

Happy snapping, and good luck!
