About 'Daniel Deronda' Clematis:

'Daniel Deronda' Clematis is a beautiful variety with beautiful big deep violet-purple flowers with pale blue midribs. The plant produces semi double flowers early in the summer, turning to single flowers later in the season.

They have wonderfully decorative central anthers that seem to explode like little stars in soft plum and pale yellow tones. As the flowers fade in late summer these turn into lovely seed heads which last well into the autumn.

Great for your garden:

'Daniel Deronda' Clematis can be planted in any aspect providing it is a nice sheltered spot away from strong winds. It is perfect for growing against walls or trellises, or pergolas.

Why not try growing it through another climber? Its intense flowers stand out beautifully against glossy green foliage of evergreens such as ivy, and they can compliment blooms of other climbers like roses. It can also be trained to ramble over shrubs.

Due to its tough nature and strong performance it has been awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Trivia:

Named after the eponymous hero of Mary Ann Evans' (writing under her nom de plume, George Eliot) final novel, Daniel Deronda is an absolute classic among Clematis. Bred in 1882 by Charles Noble of Sunningdale Nursery in Surrey, it was an instant hit, and continues to be one of the best loved varieties on the market.
