About Bulbs in the Green

Bulbs in the green are lifted by us (and promptly replanted by you!) in late Winter only - from February, depending on the weather

As they are in growth, they are easy to see, and so are perfect for planting exactly where you want them to be. In the green bulbs establish really well and reward the little extra effort required to plant them.

Please note that "in the green" is a bit of a misnomer. It would be more accurate to call them "in growth", because it is common for them to have yellow and dishevelled foliage when they arrive. This is quite normal, and has no adverse effect.

If you prefer to plant dried bulbs in the autumn, have a look at the rest of our range of premium garden bulbs.

For strong establishment and the best flowering, especially in rockeries & poor soils, we recommend using Bulb Starter Rootgrow.

Your bulbs are delivered by mail order direct from our nursery, along with expert advice and friendly support

See our handy bulbs in the green planting guide for the best flowering results.

Will bulbs in the green flower in their first year?

No, bulbs in the green will not flower in their first year. They may have some flowers on them when they arrive, which it's best to remove.
