The name tells the story: vivid cherry red petals edged with delicate white fringes, as if each bloom has been dipped in frost. It is a Darwin Hybrid, which means large flowers on strong stems with the best perennial performance of any tulip group. If you want big, bold colour that comes back year after year, Darwin Hybrids are the place to start.
At 40cm, Candy Apple Delight is shorter than some Darwins but no less impactful. The fringed edges give the flowers texture that smooth-petalled tulips lack, and they catch the light in a way that makes each bloom look lit from within.
The red-and-white combination works with any colour scheme. Plant with Negrita (deep purple Triumph) for a classic contrast, or mass alongside white daffodils for a patriotic spring display. Browse the full collection.

The best tulips for perennialising. Darwin Hybrids have large flowers, strong stems, and reliably return year after year — unlike many other groups. They flower in April and May.
The fringed white edges are a consistent characteristic, though their prominence varies with weather and maturity. Cooler springs tend to produce more defined fringes.
About 15cm (6in) deep, or three times the height of the bulb. Deeper planting helps tulips perennialise. Plant in October or November. Our planting guide has the full method.
