Hinnomaki Yellow Gooseberries are short spreading hardy tough plants with great disease resistance (making mildew almost a thing of the past), which makes them ideal for organic growing. They crop very well from an early age, so unless you thin the fruit in the early years it is advisable to give the spreading branches will need some support, or they may break under the weight of a full crop (this "problem" goes away as the plants get older and sturdier).
