Sweeter than a redcurrant, but lacking the tartness: some people love them, some people find them a little insipid. We think that they are perfect for puddings, because you will need to add less sugar. Harvest in July, the yields are above average and reliable. The pretty yellow flowers in April and May, framed by lush foliage, make it worth planting where it can be seen in your borders or a big patio pot.
Currants need reasonably well-drained and moist, fertile soil and although the plants tolerate shade well, they need full sun for a great crop.
