Description

Buddleja 'High Five Purple': Dwarf Butterfly Bush, 3-Litre Pots

A buddleia can be a big beast, so here's a chance for those with patios or smaller gardens to enjoy its sweet-scented charms in miniature. This little winner has dense, lavender blue flowers with a decent aroma. It is pretty much a sterile cultivar, so you won't have to worry about it seeding about the place.

The flowers of 'High Five Purple' are mostly double; don't expect to find the bush covered in butterflies, although a few will be single. The plant is compact and upright.

Growing 'High Five Purple' Buddleia Bushes

Buddleia is tough and will thrive in any sunny position in moist and well-drained soil. They benefit from being cut back hard in spring around the start of March, but this dwarf variety will need much less removed than the big Buddleias you are probably used to!

In Your Garden Design

Use it in a pot in a sunny position, or perhaps on a low wall. Good plant companions are ceanothus and a hebe such as rhubarb and custard, and they are perfect partners for our bees & butterfly friendly perennials collection.

Did You Know?

Bred by Peter Podaras in Oregon from Buddleja davidii and B alternifolia in 2015.
