Description
Pieris japonica 'Mountain Fire' Plants. 2 Litre Pots
Pieris japonica ‘Mountain Fire’ is a medium-sized, evergreen shrub grown for its brightly coloured foliage and abundant spring flowers. On first emerging the leaves are a vivid scarlet, and gradually mature to a deep, glossy chestnut brown. An easy, well-behaved shrub which is popular among low-maintenance gardeners.
Demanding very little, it provides outstanding year-round colour and delicate detail. Be sure to position where its pretty spring flowers can be fully appreciated, perhaps near an entrance or window.
Throughout April and into May, Pieris japonica ‘Mountain Fire’ drips with clusters of nodding, bell-shaped flowers, which bear a strong resemblance to lily of the valley. The abundance and early timing of these blooms make them a significant source of food for pollinators.
Delivered pot-grown, year round.

Growing Pieris Mountain Fire
For best results, grow in acidic, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. It prefers shade from the morning sun, as well as shelter from cold, drying winds, and is RHS rating H5, hardy across the UK.
In Your Garden Design
Pieris is widely considered to be an essential member of the spring garden. Combine it with other similarly acid-loving, spring-flowering trees and shrubs for a truly impressive, early-season display: magnolia, deeper green leaved choisya like White Dazzler, rhododendron, and black lace elder, to create a collection capable of competing with any classic Cornish spring garden!

Pieris belongs to Ericaceae, the heather family: typically found in acidic conditions, and usually evergreen. Notable members include rhododendron, cranberry, and blueberry.
