Mixed Colour Dahlia Collections: A Border Scheme in a Box

Choosing which dahlias to plant together is half the fun and half the headache. These mixed collections take the decision out of it. Each pack is curated around a colour theme, with the varieties selected to work together in height, form and flowering time. You get a coordinated dahlia display without having to plan one.

Five themes to choose from. Pretty Pink (3 tubers) for soft, romantic pinks. Golden Sunrise (3 tubers) for warm yellows and golds. Autumn Flame (4 tubers) for rich reds, oranges and bronzes. Ivory Cream (4 tubers) for whites and soft neutrals. Tropical Sunset (6 tubers) for the full hot palette. The larger packs give you enough tubers to fill a generous section of border.

The exact varieties may vary from the images shown. We reserve the right to substitute award-winning dahlias of equal or greater value, which means you'll sometimes get a pleasant surprise.

Planting Your Mix

Space tubers about 75cm apart in a sunny border with rich, well-drained soil. The collections are designed to be planted together as a group. Taller varieties towards the back, shorter ones at the front. Stake at planting time. If you want to extend the display, browse our individual dahlia varieties and add companion plants that match your theme. For the Autumn Flame collection, David Howard (burnt orange, dark foliage) is a natural addition. For Ivory Cream, White Swan (pure white decorative) extends the palette.

Why Ashridge?

Our dahlia tubers are Dutch first-class quality, imported direct and hand-graded. We reject undersized tubers so every clump has viable eyes, ready to grow. Delivered by next-day courier from March, with our one-year plant guarantee, Feefo Platinum Service Award, and human support from the team in Somerset. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose which varieties I get?

The collections are pre-selected by colour theme. The exact varieties may vary season to season, but the colour palette will match the theme you've chosen. If you want specific named varieties, browse our individual dahlia listings instead.

How many tubers should I plant for a good display?

The 3-tuber packs (Pretty Pink, Golden Sunrise) fill a space of about 2 metres square. The 4-tuber packs (Autumn Flame, Ivory Cream) fill about 3 metres. Tropical Sunset (6 tubers) fills a generous 4-metre border section. For a bigger display, order two packs of the same theme.

Do I need to stake mixed collections?

The collections include a mix of heights and types, and taller varieties will need staking. Put supports in at planting time for any variety over 90cm. It's easier to do before the foliage gets in the way. Full planting and aftercare advice is in our dahlia growing guide.

Can I grow these in pots?

Some of the shorter varieties in each collection will work in large containers, but the mix is designed for border planting. For pot-friendly dahlias, our Gallery series (under 50cm, bred specifically for containers) is the better choice. Our container guide covers what works in pots.
