A proud double daffodil with a cream outer mane that warms, ever so lightly, to faint pastel yellow at the heart of each bloom. At its best, White Lion has the presence of a small peony — full, rounded, generous. The RHS AGM recognises consistent garden performance across UK conditions.
At 40cm, this is a border daffodil rather than a naturaliser — the heavy double flowers suit sheltered beds and cutting gardens where the blooms can be appreciated up close. White Lion is excellent in a vase. Cut when the bud is showing colour and the double flowers will open fully indoors, lasting well over a week.
For an all-white spring scheme, plant with Thalia (angel's tears narcissus) and white tulips. For contrast, blue hyacinths at the front provide the colour the daffodils lack.
Your bulbs are premium-size, Dutch-grown, and hand-graded before dispatch. Bigger bulbs store more energy, which means more flowers in the first season. We import directly and check every batch. Delivered in autumn, ready to plant. If anything arrives soft or damaged, call Somerset and we replace it. Which? Best Plant Supplier. Browse all our flower bulbs.
Yes — awarded for reliable performance in UK garden conditions.
One of the best double daffodils for the vase. The full, rounded flowers have substance and the stems support them well in an arrangement. Cut when showing colour for the longest display.
September to November. Earlier is better for daffodils — unlike tulips, they benefit from getting their roots established before winter. Plant at one and a half to two times the bulb's own depth. Our planting guide has the detail.
