FAQs
Fertilisers come in various sizes, with one common goal; feeding your garden. Pesticides help protect plants from harmful bugs and pests.
The best place to buy pesticides is online. Wider product ranges are available, designed for specific uses, so you can target problems rather than focussing on general-purpose solutions. While you can make your own fertilisers, Ashridge stocks a huge range of truly balanced fertilisers, optimised for a variety of plant groups.
While pesticides can be an effective way to reduce existing problems, we much prefer using organic preventative options like our Codling Moth Traps and Tree Bands. We have a great range of highly-effective organic pest control products for you to browse.
Garden fertilisers have two groups of nutrients; macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients usually refers to Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium (NPK), as these are the basic ingredients for any fertiliser or plant food. Nitrogen feeds foliage and root development, while potassium and phosphorous are essential for healthy flowers and fruit.
Slow-release fertilisers are a great way to feed plants right through the growing season, often needing just one application in spring. However, for hungrier plants like tomatoes or peppers, Neudorff’s liquid fertiliser is one of the best you can buy, as a clever compound fertiliser to support early season growth as well as flowering and fruiting.
Powdery mildew affects most garden plants and can be cleared with organic products, but for shrubs and roses, there are some great soil additives, like Rose Clear Ultra, which help to control fungus on foliage and boost plant health without killing beneficial pollinators in the process.
