Juneberry Hedge Plants

We love Amelanchier lamarckii. Also known as Snowy Mespilus or Juneberry, it has pretty much everything that you could want in a small tree, with something good to look at almost all of the year round. It has masses of open star-shaped white flowers in spring, followed by red-purple edible fruit in summer. In Autumn, the foliage turns a brilliant orange-red colour. Amelanchier lamarckii can be grown as part of an informal garden hedge, in a shrub border or as a well behaved small specimen tree. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit

Amelanchier lamarckii will grow well in most fertile soils. The books say that it needs a rich moist soil, and it certainly loves good growing conditions, but we have a Snowy Mespilus at home that grows in dry, poor ground and does very well thank you. It is not suitable for chalk or limestone soils. It is hardy, although it does not like salt conditions near the sea.

Amelanchier lamarckii will reach about 6-8 metres if it grows freely as a tree. Browse all of our other varieties of Amelanchier trees for sale.

Amelanchier lamarckii hedge plants are only delivered bareroot, during winter (Nov-March).
All our hedge plants are measured by their height in centimetres above the ground (the roots aren't measured).

Bareroot planting is best done between October and April
Bareroot and potted - what's the difference?
