Growing Angelique

This double late tulip thrives in sheltered locations in well drained, fertile soil in full sun. Plant 3-4 times the depth of the bulb height and space 10-15cm apart. Deadhead after flowering and lift bulbs after foliage has died down in wet areas. Store in a cool greenhouse until the following spring. Angelique takes your breath away when planted in drifts through a spring border amongst double early tulips like Foxtrot and Peach Blossom as a way of extending the flowering season. Did You Know?

The word 'tulip' originates from the Persian word for turban - 'dulband' - so called because of the turban shape of the extended flower. Double tulips have a particularly elegant, rounded form bursting with a plethora of petals. It is easy to mistake these magnificent blooms for peonies at a first glance.

Tulip Angelique prefers well drained, fertile soil in a sheltered position in full sun. Plant from late October to early December at a depth of 3 to 4 times the bulb height with around 5cm of compost in the bottom of the hole. Space bulbs 10-15cm apart.
