Angelique Tulip Bulbs

For delicate colour and delicious fragrance in spring borders and container displays, it's hard to beat Tulip Angelique. This sophisticated double late tulip has lavish bowl-shaped flowers with petals ranging from the palest soft blush to deeper pinks. The magnificent peony-like blooms create impact en masse, making it easy to see why Angelique received the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. Her scented blooms are also excellent for cutting to bring spring magic into the house. For more award-winning varieties, take a look at our wide range of tulip bulbs for sale.

Growing Angelique

This double late tulip thrives in sheltered locations in well drained, fertile soil in full sun. Plant 3-4 times the depth of the bulb height and space 10-15cm apart. Deadhead after flowering and lift bulbs after foliage has died down in wet areas. Store in a cool greenhouse until the following spring. In your Garden

Angelique takes your breath away when planted in drifts through a spring border amongst double early tulips like Foxtrot and Peach Blossom as a way of extending the flowering season. She also makes a dramatic statement planted in groups in pots on the patio or by the front door where her delicious fragrance can be enjoyed on calm spring days.

Did You Know?

The word 'tulip' originates from the Persian word for turban - 'dulband' - so called because of the turban shape of the extended flower. Double tulips have a particularly elegant, rounded form bursting with a plethora of petals. It is easy to mistake these magnificent blooms for peonies at a first glance.
