Bruschetta with Parma Ham, Brie, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, and Fresh Basil or Rocket

A delectable and sophisticated appetiser that combines the rich flavours of high-quality ingredients to create a delightful culinary experience. This dish is a modern twist on the classic Italian parma ham bruschetta, infusing it with a fusion of flavours that will tantalise your taste buds.

At its core, bruschetta consists of grilled or toasted bread rubbed with garlic and drizzled with olive oil. In this elevated version, the traditional canvas of crispy bread becomes a luxurious base for a harmonious blend of ingredients. The inclusion of Parma ham, renowned for its tender texture and savory taste, adds a distinct and savoury note to each bite.

Ingredients:

  • Baguette or Italian bread, sliced
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic cloves, peeled
  • Parma ham slices
  • Brie cheese, sliced
  • Sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • Fresh basil leaves or rocket (arugula)
  • Balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2-inch thick slices. Place the slices on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush each slice of bread with olive oil. You can use a pastry brush or simply drizzle the olive oil over the slices.
  4. Toast the bread in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.
  5. While the bread is toasting, cut a garlic clove in half and rub the cut side over the warm bread slices. This will infuse the bread with a subtle garlic flavor.
  6. Once the bread is toasted, arrange slices on a serving platter or individual plates.
  7. Place a slice of Brie on each piece of bread.
  8. Drape a slice of Parma ham over the Brie. You can fold or arrange the ham to your liking.
  9. Sprinkle chopped sun-dried tomatoes over each bruschetta.
  10. Top each bruschetta with fresh basil leaves or rocket (arugula).
  11. If desired, drizzle a small amount of balsamic glaze over the bruschetta for extra flavour. Alternatively, you can also use a balsamic reduction.
  12. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  13. Serve immediately and enjoy your mouthwatering Bruschetta with Parma Ham, Brie, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, and Fresh Basil or Rocket!
