What is the Difference Between The Countryside Stewardship Pack, Economy Pack, and Conservation Pack?
All our native hedge mixes qualify for the Countryside Stewardship grants (e.g. BN11: Planting new Hedges), as long as they are planted in a double row at 6 plants per metre.
The most popular native hedge mixes are:
Countryside Stewardship Hedging, 2 species mix:
- The cheapest hedge pack that complies with the grant requirements.
- Sold in packs of 50 plants, containing 2 species (50% Hawthorn, 50% Blackthorn), 40-60cm tall.
- Also available in a 5 species mix for extra wildlife value.
Mixed Country Hedging Economy Pack
- The second cheapest hedge pack that complies with the grant requirements.
- Sold in packs of 250 plants containing 4 species (70% Hawthorn), 40-60cm tall.
Mixed Conservation Hedging has three versions: Hawthorn Based (the most popular), Blackthorn Based (traditional for sheep enclosures), or Blackthorn-free Stock Friendly Hedging (recommended for horse or cattle pasture).
- All of them greatly increase the wildlife capacity of your country hedge.
- Sold in packs of 50 plants containing 6 species, either 60-80cm or 90-120cm tall.
