Description of Early Rivers Trees & Cherries:
Early Rivers are lovely big, sweet, dark cherries. These trees are reliable early croppers, even with a cold and cloudy late spring. They are fast growing and when they are mature, they become very heavy croppers.
Browse our range of cherry trees or see the full variety of fruit trees.
Pollination Partners for Early Rivers Cherries:
Your trees must be pollinated to make fruit.
Merton Glory is the best pollination partner we grow for Early Rivers.
Rootstocks:
Our Early Rivers cherry trees are all grown on "Colt" rootstocks.
Maximum height 4 metres.
Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting.
Soil drainage must be good.
The more sun your trees get the better your crops will be.
Cherry trees are targets for birds, so netting them is a good idea.
Only prune cherry trees in Summer.
