Growing Eryngium
A perfect perennial for a dry, sunny spot with fairly poor soil, but it will tolerate almost any situation apart from wet soil or full shade. The crucial thing is a freely-draining soil that does not waterlog in winter: it will not tolerate "wet feet" while dormant.
It's good on the coast and can stand quite a bit of wind.
We recommend that you don't deadhead the flowers: leave the seedheads over winter for the birds and structural interest, then tidy the plant up in spring.
Sea hollies are not attractive to rabbits or deer, but slugs and snails can be a threat.
In Your Garden Design
Ideal for the front of a sunny border, a hot courtyard or gravel garden, or a patio container.

Cultivation Instructions
Grow in poor, sharply-drained soil, about 40cm apart. Water well and keep watered until established. Also good in pots.
Tidy up after flowering but leave flower heads standing over winter, then cut back in early spring. Do not overfeed.
