Description
Hebe 'High Voltage' Plants. 2 Litre Pots
Hebe ‘High Voltage’ is a compact, hardy shrub with plenty of seasonal appeal. Its evergreen foliage turns a beautiful bronze in freezing weather; in summer it’s covered with pretty two-tone flowers.
It makes an attractive low-maintenance feature in rockeries and borders. It can also be used as an edging plant for paths, and as ground cover for tricky spots like slopes and banks. It's great for urban gardens and will happily grow in large containers.
Slow-growing and with a neat domed habit, ‘High Voltage’ hebe is ideal for tucking into smaller spaces and gives great value year round. Its gorgeous lilac and white flower spikes cover the whole plant from June to August and are irresistible to pollinating insects. The glossy green leaves also have a nifty winter party trick, taking on warm pinky bronze tones in cold weather and adding colour to the garden just when you need it.
Hebes are only delivered pot-grown, year round.

Growing High Voltage Hebes
Suitable for any well-drained soil, they tolerate partial shade well. They are hardy across most of the UK, but in cold areas of the North and Scotland, they are best grown in pots that can be moved into shelter from dry winter winds. In other areas outside the South West, covering them during an extended period of frost or snow is recommended to prevent cosmetic damage, but not essential.
Hebes prefer poor soil, so do not add any of our rich composts to the soil before planting: sand would be better in most normal topsoils. In heavy clay soil, churn the ground over to add a bit of gravel & grit (not sand) to give their roots breathing space, likewise add grit to a planting mix for Hebes in pots.
They don't like being hard pruned, so give them a light trim in spring to keep them tight and bushy. If you need to tidy a stray stem, prune it back as little as possible, to a good-looking bud.
In Your Garden Design
‘High Voltage’ is a perfect addition to informal cottage style borders, and looks brilliant teamed with plants that will pick up its unusual foliage colours. Dark purple tulips like ‘Black Parrot’ or ‘Paul Scherer’ would make good planting partners, as would Heuchera ‘Forever Purple’, Gaura ‘Gaudi Pink’ and Rosa glauca.
