Iceberg is one of the best white Roses: clusters of pure white, lightly scented double flowers from June into September, on a healthy, tough bush. It has been a favourite since Reimer Kordes introduced it in 1958, and the open flowers are easy for bees to reach.

Iceberg Rose Bushes

One of the best white roses, Iceberg is a continuous flowerer, producing masses of pure white (occasionally touched with pink towards the end of summer), slightly scented flowers until late in the season. Thanks to their open centred shape, these double blooms are easily accessible to pollinating insects. The buds are elongated and have a faint cream-pink hue. Growing Iceberg Roses

A great choice for less than ideal locations, this hardy variety is quite shade tolerant. Because it starts to come to life fairly early in Spring, if you live in the North and there is a bad late frost coming, consider covering it with horticultural fleece to ensure the best first flush.

History & Trivia

One of the most famous floribundas, it was bred by the prolific Reimer Kordes (1922-1997) and introduced in 1958 under the registration code KORbin. The parents were Robin Hood and Virgo. In its native Germany, it's called Schneewittchen (Snow White, as in the historical figure with seven friends of less than average height, and a statistically average stepmother), and Fée des Neiges, Snow Fairy, in French.

It has won at least ten awards around the world, starting with gold medals at the Baden-Baden Rose Trials and Royal National Rose Society Show, both in 1958. The World Federation of Rose Societies voted it the 1983 World's Favourite Rose.
