Ruby Wedding - Hybrid Tea Rose
Ruby Wedding roses are a hybrid tea variety with quite big, wide, deep red flowers and a spreading growth habit. The sweet fragrance is mild, and the dark green, glossy leaves have some susceptibility to blackspot. To ensure good repeat flowering from July to October, it is usually necessary to grow it in full sun and deadhead promptly. The more you cut for use in vases, the more reliable the repeating will be. Released in 1979 by the stalwart British rose breeder, Charles Walter Gregory (1908 -1980) of Chilwell, Nottinghamshire - one of his last gifts to the world. One parent is Mayflower, another of Mr Gregory's hybrid teas, the other was unnamed.
