  • Summer 2015 Photo Competition: Spring into Summer

Dahlia Kilburn Fiesta in July Dahlia Kilburn Fiesta in July

The green and pleasant land around Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons

Our summer 2015 photo competition is open for entries!

As usual Spring has thrown a couple of curve balls this year. Lovely sunny days, unseasonably cold a night and unusually dry in April. But spring is springing now and summer is just round the corner... so it is time for another competition.

A sure indicator that "zummer is icummin in.." (apart from cuckoos) is how green everything has suddenly become. A little later than usual maybe, but Britain has some of the most beautiful countryside anywhere when it it is growing.

So, this is your inspiration for our summer photo competition:

    "Spring into Summer"

Whether it's wide angle landscape work, a moody black and white or a macro shot of a dock beetle, or fruit trees in flower, let your creative juices be stimulated by the extraordinary transformation that takes place between May and July!

The closing date for entries is midnight on 14th July August 2015. The three winners will be contacted via email by 1st August 2015.

More than £100 in vouchers is up for grabs!

  • Winter 2014/15 - Photo Competition

Our Winter 2014 photo competition is open for entries!

Winter is coming and autumn colours become richer. It is a late autumn and the hedgerows still have leaf and berry (and even flowers). But we may get snow, and surely frost. Birds will be coming closer to human dwellings hunting through hedging looking for food and water as will badgers, foxes, squirrels not to mention Heffalumps and Woozles...

Water looks great at this time of year and black and white photography comes into its own as we get closer to Christmas. Oh - did someone mention c-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s ? A whole bunch of photo opportunities there.

So our Winter photo competition aims to capture all of the above – the themes this time are:

"A Spirit of Christmas..." or "A Winter's Tale"

The closing date for entries is midnight on Valentine's Day, 14th February 2015. The three winners will be contacted via email by 20th February.

There's nearly £200 in vouchers up for grabs so give it a shot!

  • Winter and Spring Photo Competition

Our next photo competition is open for entries!

The 'Wettest Winter on Record' is what they've been saying. And don't we know it.

Even as we step into Spring, some of us are still dealing with the after-effects of all that flooding. And all of us are decidedly bored by the thought of yet another rainy day.

With this in mind, our latest photo competition aims to capture the endless rains that have graced the last three months – the theme this time is:

    "Plants and Trees in Water"

Our summer 2013 photo competition is open for entries!

Well, what strange seasonal change this year is throwing at us. In the space of a few days we seem to go from wind and hail to clear blue skies and sunbathing! Still, it keeps things interesting.

One clear sign that we're on our way to summer is how green everything has suddenly become. It took a while to get here, but there's no denying the beauty of British hedging in full swing.

So, this is your inspiration for our summer photo competition:

    "A green and pleasant land"

Whether it's an expansive landscape or an extreme close-up, let the colour green guide your lens!

The closing date for entries is midnight on Thursday 29 August 2013. The three winners will be contacted via email by Thursday 5 September.
