About French Lavender Plants for Sale

Buy French Lavender Plants – UK Grown & Delivered

Our UK-grown, peat-free French lavender plants are carefully selected for compact growth, strong colour and reliable performance in pots. French Butterfly Lavender (Lavandula stoechas) is prized for its vivid flowers topped with distinctive “butterfly ears” – in our humble opinion, these are the best looking of all the lavender varieties.

Less hardy than English or Dutch lavender, it thrives in warm spots and is ideal for containers that can be moved to shelter over winter, especially in cooler parts of the UK.

Order French Lavender Plants Online

All our French lavender plants are grown in the UK and dispatched when conditions are perfect for planting:

  • Seasonal dispatch – French lavender prefers warm soil, so plants are only sent when conditions are right
  • Typical lead time – most orders are dispatched within around two weeks when in season and in stock
  • Fast delivery – once dispatched, plants are delivered by next working day courier
  • Order updates – we’ll keep you informed by email
  • Friendly supportcontact us for support and speak to our knowledgeable team by phone or message

Our first French lavenders of 2026 are expected to be available from May onward,  depending on pot size.

Choosing the Right French Lavender Plant

Choosing a variety
French lavender rewards you with exceptional flowers, but it has clear growing preferences. It appreciates a sheltered sun-trap, sharp soil drainage, and is often grown in pots, especially in cooler parts of the UK. All of our product pages include helpful notes on hardiness and ideal planting conditions to help you choose confidently.

Each French lavender variety offers something a little different, for example:

  • Regal Splendour – rich purple flowers, compact habit, excellent for containers
  • Provencal – for stunning darker purple-blue flowers
  • Snowman – the best white-flowering French lavender, striking and unusual

For inland Northern & Scottish gardens, we recommend English Lavender or Dutch Lavender instead, both of which are RHS Hardiness Rated H5 (-15C to -10C) Looking to compare? See our notes on French lavender vs English lavender.

Choosing a pot size

Our French Lavender varieties come in different pot sizes, depending on the cultivar.

  • 9cm (P9) pots – Great value for containers and potting on; ideal if you’re happy to let plants grow on before planting out
  • 2 litre pots – A balanced choice for patio pots and borders, with good root growth and strong flowering in the first season
  • 3 litre pots – Best for instant impact in containers, with fuller plants that look good from day one
