Britain needs more homes for nature
Britain needs more trees and hedgerows
Habitat loss is the main cause of wildlife species decline in the UK

The RSPB's recently published 'State of Nature' report concludes:

"The threats to the UK's wildlife are many and varied, the most severe acting either to destroy valuable habitat or degrade the quality and value of what remains."

Every new plant creates new habitat for wildlife. Why not plant just a little extra this season? Hedging plants, ornamental trees, fruit trees, roses and spring bulbs all provide beautiful ways to attract, feed and protect British wildlife.
First bareroot deliveries start 4 November
The first bareroot plants will leave the nursery for your gardens very soon! Hedging plants and ornamentals first, fruit trees a little later.

The bareroot season begins!
Spring-flowering bulbs - plant soon!
Spring flowering bulbs
It's getting colder and we can't hold back the seasons. So, let's look forward to spring with early-flowering bulbs.

Naturalise them into grass verges; set them around orchard trees; or crowd them under hedgerows. Early pollinators love them too.

Urban gardening: Meet the False Widow!
A native autumn larder
You may already have heard of the False Widow spider, Steatoda nobilis, which has crept its way from the Canaries to our capital.

Urban gardener Dan Combes recounts his first meeting with this somewhat misunderstood arachnid.

And here she is, the False Widow...
Hellishly haunting Halloween horticulture
A native autumn larder
It's October, and we've already talked spiders, so we may as well stay on a creepy theme. Plants have long played a role in mystical folklore and witchcraft.

We've had a look at a few well-known (and one less well-known) plants and their connection to Halloween.
