Gallery Vincent: Peachy-Orange and Named After van Gogh
Gallery Vincent is named after van Gogh, and there's something of the same warm palette in its peachy-orange flowers with yellow centres. The blooms are 15 to 20cm across, generous for a plant that tops out at 50cm, and the colour has a sunlit, glowing quality that catches the eye from across a garden.
Part of the Gallery series bred by Verwer for containers and border fronts, Vincent holds the RHS AGM. It's one of the warmer-toned varieties in the series, and pairs naturally with the orange of Art Deco or the yellow-peach of Pablo for a sun-themed collection of compact pots.
It flowers from June to November, needs no staking, and the blooms last well. The short stems make it a display dahlia rather than a cutter, but in a pot that's exactly what you want.
Vincent in the Border or on the Patio
Warm tones suit warm companions. Plant Vincent with Gallery Art Deco (orange, same height) for a fiery pair. In a border front, the burnt orange of David Howard (90cm behind, dark foliage) continues the warmth at greater height. For a softer scheme, Gallery Leonardo (pastel pink) cools the palette. Bronze Carex grasses at the pot rim catch evening light beautifully.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Gallery Vincent named after van Gogh?
Yes. The Gallery series uses art references throughout: Vincent is van Gogh, Pablo is Picasso, Leonardo is da Vinci, with the remaining four named after art movements. All bred by Verwer in the Netherlands, all compact, all designed for pots.
How does Gallery Vincent compare to a full-sized orange dahlia?
You get the same flower size (15 to 20cm) on a plant less than half the height. The trade-off is cutting: Vincent's stems are too short for tall arrangements. For an orange dahlia with proper cutting stems, David Howard (90cm) or Brown Sugar (ball, 90cm) are better choices.
What aftercare does Gallery Vincent need?
Feed fortnightly with a liquid fertiliser from June, water regularly (especially in pots), and deadhead spent flowers. After the first frosts, lift the tubers and store them frost-free. The compact tubers are easy to store. Our dahlia growing guide covers seasonal care, and the overwintering guide explains storage.
