Gallery Pablo: Sunny Yellow Tipped with Peach

Named after Picasso, and Gallery Pablo has something of the same energy. The flowers are warm yellow at the centre, graduating to peachy-pink at the petal tips. At 15 to 20cm across on a 50cm plant, the blooms are extravagantly large for the size, and the two-tone colour gives each one a cheerful, sunny presence.

Part of the Gallery series bred by Verwer in the Netherlands for pots and border fronts, Pablo holds the RHS AGM. It flowers from June to November, needs no staking, and is as prolific as the rest of the series. The short, branching stems make it a display dahlia rather than a cutting variety, but in a pot or at the border front, that's not a limitation.

The yellow-to-peach gradient works alongside other warm Gallery varieties. Plant with Gallery Vincent (peachy-orange, same height) and Gallery Bellini (pink-white) for a trio of warm compact dahlias in matching pots. Will Gallery Pablo grow in a window box?
