About This Product

Crataegus laevigata Rosea Flore Pleno: Bareroot Double Pink Hawthorn Trees in Standard Sizes

Crataegus Rosea Flore Pleno is a small to medium-sized native pink hawthorn tree, a great specimen suitable for almost any garden.
Its blooms have a double row of petals, like miniature roses in a light, bright shade of pink. The glorious mass of blossoms comes in late spring, filling the air around the tree with their distinctive scent. In autumn, the attractive, small red fruit called haws decorate the tree for a while; you could pick them for use in hedgerow jam, or leave them for the birds.
It can reach a height of about 8, maybe 10 metres.

Delivery season: Hawthorn trees are delivered bareroot during late autumn and winter, approximately November-March inclusive.
Choosing a size: Small trees are cheaper, easier to handle and more forgiving of less than ideal aftercare, so they are best for a big planting project. If instant impact is your priority, or if you are only buying a few plants for use in a place where it is convenient to water them well in their first year, then you may as well use bigger ones. All our bareroot trees are measured by their height in centimetres above the ground (the roots aren't measured).

Features:

  • Height: 8-10m
  • Soil: Any well drained
  • Use: Specimen, small garden, large container, avenue, urban
  • Colour: Pink, double flowers in May
  • Thorny, mature trees are good for nesting birds
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit
  • Bareroot delivery only: November-March

Growing Pink Hawthorn

Very hardy. Almost any soil, damp, poor, or dry. Suitable for large containers designed for trees. Full sun or partial shade is best for the flower display. Tolerant of pollution and sea winds.

Like the rest of its family, it is pretty much disease and pest free; all that is needed is to protect it from rabbits and deer while relatively young.
