Sylphide is a double-flowered garden anemone in violet-pink with a large, near-black centre that gives each bloom a dramatic focal point. The double petals create a fuller, more ruffled flower than the single de Caen types, and the colour is eye-catching — vivid enough to hold its own in a mixed border without being garish.
At 25cm, Sylphide belongs at the front of a bed or along a path edge. The flowers are excellent for cutting — small, colourful, and they last well in water. Soak the hard corms for a few hours before planting at 5cm deep in well-drained soil.

Your bulbs are premium-size, Dutch-grown, and hand-graded before dispatch. Bigger bulbs store more energy, which means more flowers. We import directly and check every batch. Delivered in autumn, ready to plant. If anything arrives soft or damaged, call Somerset and we replace it. Which? Best Plant Supplier. Browse all our flower bulbs.
Double — the flowers have multiple layers of petals creating a fuller, more ruffled bloom than the single de Caen types. The dark centre provides a striking contrast against the violet-pink petals.
June to July — later than the spring-flowering Anemone blanda. Sylphide is a coronaria type, which flowers later in the season and bridges the gap into summer.
Recommended. Soak for two to four hours in tepid water before planting to soften the hard corms and speed germination. Plant 5cm deep, pointed end up if you can tell — if not, plant sideways.
