About This Product

White Onesta: Decorative Dahlia Tubers

White Onesta is a dreamy dahlia with flawless white open flowers tinted with soft greenish-yellow at the centre. The exquisite blooms measure up to 15cm in diameter and last well in arrangements. Notable for her prolific flowering, she will be covered in blooms from July right through to the first frosts.

Being fairly compact, she makes an ideal specimen plant in containers on a sunny patio or as a mid-sized border plant.

Growing White Onesta Dahlias

Dahlias thrive in deep, fertile soil with good drainage and this compact variety is ideal planted in the middle of a sunny border. She needs staking in windy conditions, preferably with stakes added at planting time so the support will be available when it is needed.

Like other dahlias, she needs to be kept well watered in dry periods, especially if grown in containers. To keep your dahlias flowering abundantly throughout summer and autumn, add a bit of soluble food in the watering can once every couple of weeks.

Garden Design Ideas

Perfect as part of a white garden or pastel scheme, she blends wonderfully with many other mellow dahlias like Gerrie Hoek and Cafe au Lait. For a tranquil white border, combine with drifts of grasses like Pennisetum villosum, the feathertop grass, and soft perennial spires of flower such as white Veronicastrum and Agastache. To create a dramatic container display, pair with a contrasting, vivid dahlia.
